The first ‘Museum of Crocodiles’ in Aswan will open to visitors at the end of January.
Overlooking the Nile and close to the historic temple of Kom Ombo, the museum aims to explain the significance of crocodiles and the ancient Egyptian crocodile god Sobek. Forty mummified crocodiles ranging in size from two to five meters long will be on display, as well as a collection of wooden and granite crocodile statues and replicas of crocodile holes in rocks.
The official inauguration of the museum will coincide with Aswan National Day in January.
